New Music Rave...

While I love the Itunes genius application it is detrimental to my bank account, but I have found some great new bands (at least to me they are new). This one is a new favorite... Silversun Pickups. Here are 2 of their songs/videos I like, Well thought out Twinkles and Lazy Eye.

Also if you just want to dance around the house to make you feel better and relieve stress Katie Perry's Hot and Cold will do that for you, it makes me dance every time I hear it.

Confessions of a Shopoholic.....

No I am not confessing any of my secrets, I am talking about the movie opening in a few weeks. Jeremy teases me every time the trailer comes on TV that they wrote a book about me, close but not quite. Anyway, I am very excited about this movie because I have read all the books and they were great. I hope the movie does the books justice even though I can already tell that the main character Rebecca is not English so I hope that doesn't take away from her character. Here is the trailer

So my wonderful girlfriends we have a girls night to plan for February 13th... Maybe I will buy each of you the book so you will be familiar with Rebecca before the movie and give you something to think about other than Edward, my other passion, shoes and shopping.

Italian Sausage Soup with Tortellini

I was looking for something comforting for dinner and even though it is eighty degrees today soup sounded really good, plus I haven't posted a recipe in a while. It was delicious.

  • 1 pound sweet Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 5 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 4 large tomatoes - peeled, seeded and chopped
  • 1 cup thinly sliced carrots
  • 1/2 tablespoon packed fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced zucchini
  • 8 ounces fresh tortellini pasta
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a 5 quart Dutch oven, brown sausage. Remove sausage and drain, reserving 1 tablespoon of the drippings.
  2. Saute onions and garlic in drippings. Stir in beef broth, water, wine, tomatoes, carrots, basil, oregano, tomato sauce, and sausage. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered for 30 minutes.
  3. Skim fat from the soup. Stir in zucchini and parsley. Simmer covered for 30 minutes. Add tortellini during the last 10 minutes. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese on top of each serving.

An eight year old know it all

I really think Josh is possessed and needs an exorcism. He turned 8 in January and decided he is grown and can do what he wants now. He won't clean his room, he won't do his chores, he backtalks me, which really makes me angry that I need to turn around and count to 10 to cool down or walk away entirely. He also thinks he is a know it all, he knows every thing about anything and you know nothing apparently. I know it sounds like I am describing myself to me right now but not at 8 maybe when I was 16. I will be the first to admit that I am stubborn to the core, but Josh is stubborn through and through and it is costing him and he is not happy about it. Yesterday he got his Karate class privileges taken away until he shows respect to me and his father and learns to follow directions, now anyone want to take bets on how long that is going to take. He thinks I will forget about this but he is dead wrong, I am sticking to my guns on this one, plus it saves me $110 bucks a month, the money is more of a motivation to me to stick to my guns because I can always find a way to spend money, shoes perhaps. If anyone out in the blogosphere has any good advice for me it will be greatly appreciated.

And speaking of shoes aren't these cute. The first one is a Stuart Wietzman shoe for $385 and the second is a Gabrielle Rocha for $69.

Why Do I live in the allergy capital of the world...

Red Cedar Pictures, Images and Photos
This is my enemy

Ok, so I am starting this week with a rant, I guess because I didn't get much sleep last night. If you have lived in the Austin area for any length of time and are sensitive to any allergen, then for you and apparently me, the Austin area might not be the best place to live, especially during the winter months. We are surrounded by Cedar trees here and they bloom and release their toxic pollen in January and February. I started sneezing on Friday so I doubled up on my allergy meds, which I take religiously everyday anyway, because I knew it was coming. Saturday I started sneezing and sniffling and Sunday my eyes started itching along with the other two symptoms, it wasn't too bad yet... I went to bed Sunday night, woke up around midnight with the pain of sinus pressure, a completely stuffed nose and a cough caused by post nasal drip. So I know right now you are asking me why I suffer here in the allergy capital of the world? Well because I wouldn't really want to live anywhere else and the other allergies that plagued me before we moved here seem to have went away and I think I can live through one allergy season to live in this great area, I have great friends, great schools for my kids to go to and great shopping, yes as most of you know shopping is my passion and Austin has finally caught up, ok I got distracted by the shopping, so this is why I suffer not in silence but to rant to you because it makes good blogging material, I guess.

Have a great day and tomorrow is another day hopefully a better one...

Nonsense and catch up

I know I am behind on the blogging thing, there really hasn't been any inspirations lately. So this will probably be a nonsense post which is ok, you need those every so often to get caught up.

I would like to congratulate the Longhorns on their victory last night it was a great game to the last seconds. Now lets hope that Florida beats Oklahoma and everything will almost be right. I haven't blogged about football lately and that is because the Cowboys have thoroughly disgusted me with the way they played in their last games. I will just leave it at that.

My Josh turned 8 yesterday, can you believe it. I can't, he is growing up extremely fast and growing out of his clothes even faster, I have had to buy him 2 different sizes of jeans since school started in september. Zach is doing much better in school now, his handwriting has improved and his speech therapy is going great, I am hoping he won't need it much longer. His allergy attacks so far this season have been minimal (knock on wood) no ear infections as of yet so hopefully it will stay that way.

I seem to be doing well too, I have lost seven pounds since I wrote about my new years resolutions a few weeks ago, I have cut back calories and the food I eat and I am exercising more but probably not enough. I start back to school on the 21st which is good, because I have been really kind of lazy the last couple of weeks, taking it easy before all of the stress hits again.

I guess we are all caught up with what is going on in the Palmer household. Not too bad for a nonsense post, huh.

Migraines

Migraines Pictures, Images and Photos

I hate migraines, they hit you like a brick wall and stay for days. It started Wednesday night and has not relented for 2 long days. 2 days in the dark away from family and a missed opportunity hanging out with friends. Hopefully it will be gone tomorrow, hopefully.
